Rotating Blade Power Saw

Sarah Schillaci is a goddess for changing her picture on facebook to match the announcement of my new Chinese master's degree program. Huzzah for people with creativity and a knack for taking pictures.

I will post the picture here later. But if Sarah Schillaci is not your friend of facebook, consider yourself a very sad individual.

I don't mean that...but I do...

New Idea

for a Chinese master's degree program.

one requirement: get a PRC passport in 2 years.

extra credit: before you have learned how to say "rotating blade-power saw" in Chinese, go into a hardware store and successfully procure one in 5 minutes.

tuition will be lower than most programs and the food will be better.

So many things...

I can't even remember and I only have five minutes until the bell rings (how quaint), so I am going to make a list of relevant happenings:

Two Thursdays Ago: Went to Jiaoxi to go hot springing and motorcycling around the Yilan area. Very, very nice hotel room. Check Plus.

Two Fridays Ago: Saw the Yumen Dance Company perform. They are very big in Taiwan and, apparently, everywhere. If they come to a town near you I would recommend buying a whole boatload of tickets.

Two Saturdays Ago: Had my first chance to see a performance at the Dream Community puppet theater. Took about 9 people to see it again last Saturday. It was about an anti-sex conspiracy and foreskins. Probably a cross between an acid trip and AMAZING.

Last Week (Monday and Wednesday): Had grad school interviews for history and social work (the Chinese Lit. department has decided they have too many applicants to hold interviews this year, whatever, bitches). History was fantastic=I totally kicked it's ass. However, because I did not know about the social work one before it happened and was literally hauled out of class to go do it...it was...less hot. Oh well.

I recently found a gym with a punching bag and am now teaching the fantabulous Andrew Roth (who does have a blog out there, but don't tell him I told you) how to box. It is very fun and confuses all of the buff men in the gym (I think they probably assume we have some weird S&M relationship going on).

There is more, but the bell just rang. Until next time, my darlings!

Best Response to a Text Message EVER

"happy Easter! I got a hard boiled egg from holy family church, biatch!"--Patrick McGovern

If you can guess what led to this response, I will come home from Taiwan.

Male A Cappella...It's Been So Long

Saw the above Swedish, all-male A Cappella group (Vocal Six, don't ya know) last night at Xin Wutai in the Shi Zhengfu (City Government) district. AMAZING! I also went with a bunch of people from my chorus and so, of course, it was even more amazing to watch the show with surrounded by music dorks who were passing notes the entire time and freaking out because the main bass in the group could sing so low. The most hilarious part of the evening, however, was when a Taiwanese college A Cappella group acted as "guest entertainers" for the Swedish hotties and all of my friends became completely reserved and unwilling to clap. COMPETITION!!! I love it. But that group wasn't very good anyway, so I don't blame them.

Also, my friend Xiao Yu (aka former stalker and biggest player ever) is considering whether or not she should break up with one of her two girlfriends (both of whom are in the US right now). This is huge news because she doesn't seem to understand that because the two girlfriends know about each other it might be making them slightly unhappy. Acting as advice guru in this situation (hahahahaha, WHAT?) I am trying very, very hard to make her chose one. What will happen? Who will win the day? Only time and bubble tea can tell!

Rain

I am now the proud owner of a LEOPARD PRINT umbrella.

I will do my utmost to never, ever, ever lose this sacred object.

I wish I had a camera, I would take a picture.
